My Island
I’m a very self-sufficient person and pride myself on doing everything on my own—to a fault of course. Writing ‘My Island’ was therapeutic in that I was going through so much in my personal life. I always get to a point where I’ve tried to fix everything on my own and then I break down to only realize you can’t do this on your own. I’ve been described as an ‘island’ or ‘introvert’ by peers, co-workers, etc. No matter what you decide to do with your life I believe no one can judge you—we all make mistakes and for that very reason is why I answer to no man. Life is too short to try to live up to any one’s expectations or standards. This is your life, but also know that you don’t have to live it alone. That’s the balance. John Dew (my brother in rhyme) bodied his verse, his best verse ever in my opinion. Nya (my sister in melody & rhyme) blessed the track as well, her verse is deep so go back and listen again.
