The Restoration
Over the last year or so I’ve gotten to know a lot of would be ‘rivals’ in Houston’s underground, namely the Niceguys (dope rap group). Free (producer of the Niceguys) and I can talk music for hours and have a mutual respect for one another’s work. The song is about what do you do after you’ve broken something down?...Hopefully you’re around long enough to see it restored. In anything worth preserving (relationships, music, etc)—sometimes you need to destroy and rebuild it to be better than what it was before. Hip-Hop never died, it will never die but there are things about the industry that needs to be destroyed in order to make it better. Same thing goes for my city of Houston, TX. I’d imagine there is politics and bullshit everywhere you go but I’d love to see Houston expand and progress like it should. A lot of things have changed since the big boom in Houston mainstream rap of 2005—I feel we can keep the city on the map nationally forever with the talent that has been brewing the last few years. This beat still has a ‘rock’ feel but sounds a lot more hopeful than the rest of the album as I wanted to end on a semi-positive note for what the future may bring. Ironically the next full length LP I make will be titled ‘The Restoration’ as a book-end to ‘Break Something’. Don’t expect that to come out for a while. 2013-ish. Free wrote the hook too, I couldn’t come up with anything. (prod. by Free of The Niceguys)

**MMA
Shoutout to my crew, The Houston Elite MC’s…pound for pound the best rap crew in Texas. I stand by that. Our influences are definitely S.U.C., Dungeon Family, Wu Tang Clan, etc. This beat was originally sent to Delo I believe, consequently I took it back. I’ve always wanted us to do a big posse cut and it finally came to fruition. There is no ‘leader’ of THEM but I can definitely say I’m the ‘glue’. Maybe one day we’ll record a project, we’ve often discussed it but our strength has always been in our individual presence. Almost everyone has dropped solo projects, I think once we’ve all dropped then a collective mixtape/ep/lp makes more sense. Until then, please get familiar with my family: John Dew, Hip-Phonix, Hollywood Floss, Kidd The Great, Thurogood Wordsmith, Dustin Prestige, E Wood, Nya, and Rob Jay. We are all different and bring something special to the table. To any crews that think they might be as good as or better than the elite, I cordially invite you to the booth, the stage, etc. ELITE > everything. (prod. by Jett I. Masstyr)

**New Polos
Originally I wanted this song on the actual album, but after listening to the other tracks this one felt real ‘mixtape-ish’ to me for some reason. The title might fool you into thinking this is a song about fashion and cool rapper talk but it isn’t at all. It’s crazy that the word ‘polo’ depicts a style of shirt that was popularized by Ralph Lauren’s polo shirts but is used frequently with no reference to any particular brand. Truth be told I am a LoLife, and there is no better feeling than rocking a fresh new polo…shoutout to my homeboy Delo for jumping on the record. I’ve produced some notable songs for him in the past. Delo is an incredible MC, so this song was a no brainer for inclusion as a bonus track. New Polos = New Flows. (prod. by Jett I Masstyr & Chris Rockaway)
